June 8th - 12th | 9 AM to Noon

At Rainforest Falls Totally Catholic Vacation Bible School, kids explore the nature of God—discovering who God is and how much he loves them! Kids participate in memorable Bible-learning activities, sing catchy songs, play teamwork-building games, make and devour yummy treats, and test out sciency-fun experiments they’ll never forget.

We are recruiting adults (19 and up)*

for Station Leaders at VBS.

What is a Station Leader?

A VBS Station Leader is responsible for managing a specific, rotating activity area—such as crafts, games, snacks, or Bible stories—creating a high-energy, engaging, and organized experience for kids. They prepare the supplied materials, teach the daily theme, and guide groups through activities, often supported by assistant leaders.

Are there any special requirements to be a Station Leader?

A station leader should be dependable, enthusiastic about sharing the faith and working with children. They should be patient and kind, and comfortable speaking in front of a group of elementary students. They will need to be Safe Environment Trained and have passed a background check.

All volunteers with children will be allowed to register one child for free. Childcare will be available for volunteers who have children under the age of three.

Will you have a college student home for the summer needing to acquire some volunteer hours? Start their summer off with some fun and ask them to volunteer!

Confirmation Retreats-8th Grade

Sponsors, parents, upper class siblings in high school and college:We are required to provide volunteers for the two student Confirmation Retreats in March! Adults are simply needed as chaperones; older students will monitor small groups of 8th graders. Please contact Sandy at 402.861.4510 or s.kimmey@stephen.org for more information if you are interested in volunteering. Lunch will be provided for the volunteers.

Friday’s retreat for SSM school students will be held off-campus at the Pro-Sanctity Retreat Center in Elkhorn; (bussing will be provided to and from school for students only.) Saturday’s retreat will be held on our parish campus and will spread out through the gym, dining room and worship spaces. Both retreats are identical and will offer students a variety of fun and spiritual activities! Students will be provided a T-shirts to wear to the retreat! All students will need to pack a sack lunch and drink.

Catholic Relief Services Rice Bowl

One simple way to enhance your Lenten practice is to participate in the CRS Rice Bowl program. During Lent, Catholics and families across the United States use a Rice Bowl—a small cardboard box—to pray, fast and collect alms in support of their people living in poverty around the world. Each Rice Bowl comes with a calendar that guides families through the 40 days of Lent with activities and reflections connected to our global family. The Rice Bowls will sent home on February 24/25 with the students.

2026 KOC Scholarship Application

The St. Stephen the Martyr Knights of Columbus are accepting applications for the 2026 Deacon Wesley Kreun Memorial Scholarship. This is not an academic scholarship; recipients will be selected based on service within the parish and other charitable activities. Scholarships include four $500 one-year awards for students attending local Catholic high schools, four $1,000 one-year awards for students attending an accredited college or university, and one $1,000 one-year award for a student attending a trade school. Applications are available at the kiosk in the gathering space or the parish office now through April 30, 2026. Completed applications should be returned to the parish office.
