We are off to a great start! We sold 24 tubs at the pancake breakfast and put in an order for 185 tubs from orders turned in this past week. If you haven't done so yet, please ask a few friends and family members if they would like to order some cookie dough! The cookies will come in handy during upcoming family gatherings or during the holidays for a quick treat or as a hostess gift.
All proceeds from this fundraiser will go directly towards our department to help cover some of the costs with the curriculum updates, catechist training, volunteer appreciation, and tuition assistance.

The two top selling families will each win a voucher for a free 12-inch jumbo chocolate chip cookie cake from The Cookie Company that may be decorated for any occasion!

Bring Diapers This Week To Fill The Husker Bus!
Please join us in collecting diapers (sizes 4, 5, 6, & pull ups) for local women and families in need.
The Big Red Husker Bus will be parked in the North lot during Rel. Ed. classes on October 28 and 29 to help collect the donations.
October Events
Religious Education had a busy few weeks, but we are thrilled to say ALL of our events were a resounding success! Thank you to all who attended and/or assisted with the Religious Education Family Mass & Potluck dinners, with Trunk-or-Treat on Friday, as well as all who supported the Pancake Breakfast!
We had a wonderful turnout for our Family Masses and Potlucks! Between Tuesday and Wednesday, over 500 people celebrated Mass with us and joined us for dinner. Thank you to all who helped with set up and cleanup, who donated food, and who assisted with the Mass or the dinners. Our student volunteers were amazing as well and just made both nights all the more special!

Lastly we are so grateful to the Knights of Columbus for hosting a pancake breakfast with proceeds donated to the Rel Ed program.
The Leadership Team for the Middle School Youth Group (launching this winter) is in need of additional individuals who feel the call to serve. There are a number of opportunities to be a part of this great opportunity for our middle school students to strengthen their faith and have fun while doing so. Sts. Simon and Jude
St. Simon, Patron Saint of Saw Workers, Tanners
St. Jude, Patron Saint of Impossible Causes
Sts. Simon and Jude were Apostles of the Lord Jesus Christ.
After many years of evangelizing after Jesus’ death and Resurrection, these men are said to have suffered martyrdom together after having gone as missionaries to Suanis, a city of Persia. Because of this, they are honored on the same day. The Church celebrates their feast day on October 28.
St. Simon is referred to in Scripture by Matthew and Mark as the “Cananaean” and by Luke as “the Zealot.” Both titles mean the same, zealous for the Jewish Law, and distinguish him from the Simon whom the Lord renamed Peter, or Rock. It is unclear whether he belonged to the political party of that day, which was known as the Zealots, or was simply known for his religious zeal.
St. Jude is one of two Apostles with this name. The other, usually called Judas, is the infamous Judas Iscariot, known for his betrayal of Jesus. Here we refer to Jude Thaddeus, the saint increasingly popular as the patron of hopeless causes. He is also the author of the New Testament book the Epistle of Jude.
Not much is known about the lives of Simon and Jude from the Gospels. Even so, God chose these men, granted them holiness, worked through them in the lives of many in their own time, and continues to work through them today.
