The Religious Education team is very excited to welcome all families back for the new school year! Classes begin August 19/20.

RE Parent & Student Welcome: Plan to join your children on the first week in the main church worship space at the beginning of classes August 19/20! Our parish priests would like to personally welcome you and offer a blessing to all the Religious Education families. Our Director of Religious Education, Sandy Kimmey, will have some important information about the upcoming year and will introduce our new Confirmation Coordinator and Middle School Youth Minister, Mike Kennedy. Following the welcome, parents will be asked to accompany their children to their classrooms to meet their Catechists!

Catechists Needed:

Tuesday at 4:30 pm-Grades 3, 5, 6

Wed. at 5:30 pm-Grades K, 3, 5, 7

Wed. at 7:00 pm-Grade 3

The RE team has been busy getting ready for the upcoming school year and are looking forward to offering faith formation for over 500 children again this year! Please consider volunteering for the program. There are various roles you can volunteer for to help us out and provide some stewardship to your parish, grow in your own faith, and save yourself a little money.

We have several classes of registered students with no Lead Catechist assigned yet. They are listed at the top of this section. We have been working diligently this summer to update and improve the lesson plans so that all the materials will be prepared for Lead Catechists by our August 17^th meeting.

Assistant Catechist is a role which requires no outside preparation but is vital to providing a positive and constructive environment in our classrooms. Many classes could still use this extra hand.

Campus Dad, a roll which will require you to be present during class time to help monitor the doors and hallways before, during and briefly after class. We still need a volunteer for Wednesday at 5:30 or 7:00 pm.

Substitute Catechist-We have a volunteer position open at every class time. We often have volunteers cancel for class at the last moment due to illness or emergency and would like to have a volunteer here on standby each week who can step in where/if needed.

Catechesis of the Good Shepherd

We are blessed to have the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd program at St. Stephen the Martyr for our preschool students again this year. We are in search of assistants during our classroom times on Tuesday at 4:30 pm and Wednesday at 5:30 pm during Religious Education.

No experience needed!

During the one-hour class, there is a lead catechist who has gone through 90 hours of formation to lead the sessions. We are in need of additional adults to assist with walking kids to the bathroom, reading, and other easy classroom management tasks with the children during the sessions. With prep and clean up, the time commitment is approximately 1hr 15 min each week. This is open to all adults, women or men, parents, grandparents or friends! You just need to be safe environment trained or get signed up to go through that free training.

*As a note-You will need to be able to get up and down off of the floor since they complete their work on the floor.

Let us know if you or if you know of someone that would be interested. CGS is just as much for the adult as for the child. It is listening to God WITH the children! So I promise it is a beautiful and lovely time with Jesus for you too!

New Middle School Ministry - Catching Fire!

6th - 8th grade students watch for future events coming from Catching Fire – the new Middle School Ministry! We will explore what it means to be a young Catholic in today's world full of all the noise and distractions that surround us. We will offer a number of experiences and opportunities which will allow us to learn about the relationships we have with Jesus, with our friends and families, and within ourselves. Catching Fire will encourage us to play an active role in our faith formation journey under the guidance of the Holy Spirit in our lives.
