We did it! You helped us reach our goal of 10,000 Diapers! Because of your generosity, the whole school will get a dress down day (date TBD)! But we aren't stopping yet! We still have 10 days left of the Respect Life Diaper Drive. Do you think we could reach 15,000 diapers in our last ten days!? Below are ways you can help!
Ways to Support the Diaper Drive:
- Drop diapers before or after school to the Big Red Husker bus that will be parked in front of the Parish Center tomorrow!
- Students can bring in wipes and/or diapers in sizes: NB, 4, 5, & 6 and drop them in the crib in the school commons.
- Give a monetary donation via the container in the school commons or give online here: osvhub.com/stephen/giving/funds/diaper-drive.
- Pray for women, babies and their families! All families will also receive A Respect life prayer card this month and we encourage you to pray together as a family throughout October.
Thank you for performing both spiritual and corporal works of mercy this month.
Rake The Rectory
Our next Be the Light service project will be our annual Rake the Rectory event! The exact date is still being confirmed, but will likely be in early November. More details coming soon!
Faith At Home
Life and Death
Did you know Halloween is traditionally called "All Hallows Eve" and it is actually the pre-celebration of "All Hallows Day", now called All Saints Day? The Catholic Church teaches that even in death, we can rise with Christ. This life is not the end, but the beginning. So when we see skeletons and other spooky things this Halloween, take them as a reminder that although death is part of this life, we are joyful because Jesus defeated death forever. As you enjoy your Halloween candy, celebrate the sweet promise of Heavenly Paradise!
The Feast of St. John Paul II - October 22nd
This Saturday is the feast of Saint Pope John Paul II, the famous pope who wrote plays, spoke over 15 languages and loved to hike. When he was young, he lived in Poland during World War II and even managed to escape the Germans when they tried to make him join their army. Instead, John Paul II decided to become a priest and fight for God. When he was Pope, he traveled the world telling everyone that God wants everybody to be a saint-even you! As we celebrate his Feast Day, think of something you can do for God, just like John Paul II did. Read the bible, visit the church to pray, or perform an act of kindness or generosity. God sees the good that you do! Saint John Paul II, pray for us!
